The gruesome reality behind the movie began on August 8, 1985, when dismembered bodies were discovered on the shores of Macau.

People swimming off the southern coast of Coloane noticed a strange object floating in the sea.

At first, they thought it was just some garbage, but upon closer inspection, it appeared to be human body parts.

Specifically, dismembered limbs were floating on the surface of the water.

The police, responding to the report, recovered a total of eight body parts, including four right feet and severed arms and wrists.

It seemed that they had been submerged in seawater for several days, as they were severely decomposed.

It meant that at least four people had died, as four right feet with soles were found.

Initially, it was suspected that the deceased might have been attacked by a shark in nearby waters, but there were no missing person reports, and the autopsy revealed that the severed edges of the bodies were very precise and clean.

It was evidence that could not have been caused by an attack from an animal like a shark or by a simple accident.

Moreover, some parts of the recovered fingers had been deliberately mutilated.

The police immediately organized a dedicated investigation team and conducted maritime searches and beach patrols.

A few days later, three severed bodies, including a right hand and a right foot, were found in nearby waters.

In total, 11 pieces were recovered, but due to severe decomposition and damage, they could not be combined or reattached.

Fortunately, a fingerprint was secured from the finger that remained on the right hand, and it was confirmed to be similar to the fingerprint of a woman in her 60s who had been reported missing.

However, since the fingerprints did not match perfectly, it could not be concluded that they were the same person, so the body remained unidentified.

After several months without any clear clues, a letter arrived at the police station in April 1986.
