When I was young, I always had the story of Satan in my mind.

But the truth is that I never understood it, or in my mind, there was a madness from how much he was a worshiper of God, his status was raised among the angels.

But when God commanded him to be silent before Adam, he refused and disobeyed God, and he didn't stop there; he challenged God Himself. It's a very strange topic for me.

I always asked myself a puzzling question that I don't understand: what motivated Satan to do something like that? I mean, he saw Paradise with his own eyes and lived in bliss.

I know God directly, not in the way we believe in the unseen, so I understand that this story has something I don't grasp.

Over time, I started hearing more religious stories, and the same incomprehensible reason began to repeat in front of me.

Pharaoh disbelieved in God and began to fight a messenger with all his miracles, saying to him, 'Haman, his minister, build for me a tower to reach the Lord of Moses.'

Then he said, 'I am your most high Lord,' declaring himself a god. What about the arrogance you are in? Even when I made a video about Prophet Moses, I just asked myself a question.

How can a person like you and me declare himself a god on earth? This tyrant also challenged Prophet Abraham, saying to him, 'I give life and cause death.'

All these characters do strange and heinous acts, and I don't understand their motivation until I started noticing verses in the Quran.

They answer my question, and I don't know. In Surah Luqman, we see Prophet Luqman advising his son and giving him his counsel, saying:

'And do not turn your cheek away from people, nor walk in the earth with arrogance. Indeed, Allah does not like every self-deluded boastful person.'

Huh? Wait, wait. Is arrogance and pride that terrifying? To the extent that Prophet Luqman places it next to associating partners with God in his advice until I reach the hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

No one will enter Paradise who has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart. Oh God, an atom's weight! It means not complete arrogance, not clear pride.

An atom's weight of arrogance will not enter Paradise, and I'm not the only one in disbelief now.

Our companions themselves serve this hadith. One of them asks, 'O Messenger of Allah,'

'A man among us likes his clothes to be nice and his shoes to be nice, and this is arrogance.'

The Prophet, peace be upon him, replied that Allah is beautiful and loves beauty.

Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down on people. The arrogance that the Prophet speaks of has no invitation at all.

That you be pleased with yourself and be flashy and all these things have nothing to do with each other at all.

Here it clarifies that arrogance is when you reject the truth when it reaches you and look at people from above.

And here we understand everything. We are facing something that almost all of us as humans fall into every day.

The most dangerous thing that can happen to a person, even Christians themselves warn against the same thing. They have something called the seven deadly sins, and the first one is the most dangerous and worst sin, number one.

Before envy, before greed, and before lust itself is pride, the same idea of arrogance and vanity.

And yes, the topic is terrifying to that degree. The easiest thing to fall into, no matter who you are, even if you are the greatest religious leader in the world, the greatest sage on earth.

It's easy to fall into it, and the truth is that Satan summarized it all in one line: I am better than him. We're talking about pride and arrogance.

How can a person like you and me actually feel like they are a god?

Today we are here to answer this question because it is not far from us; it exists within all of us and is waiting to come out, or has already started to come out and you don't feel it.

It's dangerous to the extent that even religion embraces it this way; a person loves themselves to the point of madness, seeing themselves above all humans.

They sanctify themselves, thinking they are right while they are wrong; it's the god complex, and as I explain this topic now, you'll be able to notice.

There are people around you who have this complex; your boss at work could be a controlling father figure, or even the people who work in the public sphere.

These people definitely have this complex, but we are not here to talk about purely religious matters.

So today, I will tell you not just one story, but four different stories about four different characters, each of whom appeared in a novel, film, or a different story.

All of them are very ordinary people like us, but in the end, they ended up worshiping themselves.

It's called hubris, and to them, it means the arrogance that leads a person to think they are above others as humans.

The ordinary person begins to act as if they are above the gods they worship.

And keep in mind that this issue has nothing to do with being confident in yourself; hubris is forgetting that you are human.

The Greeks were convinced that this was not just a trivial matter; it was a crime, and the punishment for it came from the heavens themselves, and they called this punishment nemesis.

And to understand this idea, which is very important to them, they talk about it a lot.

Look at their myths that they believed in; they have a myth about a young man named Icarus.

This young man's father made him wings of wax and feathers so they could both escape from an island where they were imprisoned.

But he told him something very important: don't fly too high because the sun will melt the wax.

But Icarus, as soon as he flew and felt the power, felt a non-human sleep, flew higher and higher until the sun melted the wings, and he fell into the sea and died.

This is a strange story they used to tell their children; if we are not talking about bedtime stories, it was one of those tales.

Why? Because they wanted to instill in them that they are human and there are limits to being human; almost every tragedy had the same recipe.

A great hero achieves extraordinary accomplishments; success enters their mind and makes them think they are above humans.

And then, from the same place where he became arrogant, the stories of the Neonians were written 2500 years ago, but until now, all art is still somewhat following this recipe because technology changes.
