When changing jobs, I'm most worried not about whether I'm suitable, but what others might think.

I'm getting worse, worried about what relatives think since I'm thirty and still unmarried.

My income isn't as high as others, worried about what classmates think when I refuse a request.

I start to wonder if he thinks I'm selfish.

In a day of 24 hours, there might be only a few questions that truly belong to me.

The remaining time is spent worrying about how others might view me.

We often think we're exhausted because of too many things, but sometimes

what truly exhausts us isn't the tasks but the many spectators in our minds.

Before making every decision, I have to imagine whether the audience will be satisfied.

So clearly it's my life, yet I end up living like it's a public exam.

Every step I take, I'm waiting for others to share my life; there are only two things.

The statements 'It's none of your business and none of my business' sound very direct.

It even feels a bit impolite, but if we look deeper into this statement,

what it really discusses isn't about teaching us to be indifferent and ignore everyone.

It's more like a reminder that many pains in life come from not distinguishing what's our own business.

What's someone else's business is whether others like you or not.

To a large extent, it's someone else's business how others choose to live.

It's also someone else's business how you respond and what choices you make.

How you bear the consequences of your choices is your own business.

It sounds very simple, but it's really hard to achieve.

Because we've been learning to observe others since we were young, are our teachers satisfied?

Are our parents happy? Will friends reject me?

Do colleagues have opinions about me? These abilities are not a bad thing.

People live in society, and it's unrealistic to not care about anyone.

The problem is that we easily go from hearing others' opinions to

having to live according to others' opinions. One person says,

you don't look good in that outfit; it's just an opinion, but when you get home,

putting away that piece of clothing you originally liked turns it into something more than just an opinion.

It becomes part of your life. Someone says changing careers at this age is

too risky. That's just their judgment, but if you give up a decision you've considered for a long time because of this statement,

the one who truly chooses your life is no longer you. The most dangerous thing is not that someone evaluates us in the world.

The world will certainly evaluate you. If you do well, some say you are lucky; if you do poorly,

some say they knew it all along. Some think you should be quieter, while others feel you lack personality.

Being straightforward makes some think you are hard to get along with.

So the problem has never been how to live to satisfy everyone.

Because there is no way to live like that. The real question is,

why do we feel we must respond every time someone speaks up?
